The highest and longest enduro trail in Peru

Patacancha is the highest and longest enduro trail in Peru, home to one of the highest-altitude enduro races in the world. You start at the Yanamayo Pass, at 4,500 m, and descend the whole valley on an ancestral path that local communities still use to move their goods: open plateaus with alpaca herds, flowing singletrack, rock gardens and a skyline of glaciers that follows you all the way down.

Riding Patacancha and Pumamarca

Mountain bikers descending the Patacancha valley toward Ollantaytambo
Yanamayo Pass – Willoc – Pumamarca – Ollantaytambo

Quechua villages, an Inca fortress and cobbled streets

On the way we ride through Patacancha and Willoc, two Quechua communities famous for their weaving and their red ponchos, where life carries on as it has for centuries.

The finale starts at Pumamarca (3,500 m), an Inca fortress older than Ollantaytambo, and drops above kilometres of farming terraces into the Inca town of Ollantaytambo (2,800 m), entering through its cobbled streets. Depending on how you feel, you can ride the full Willoc – Pumamarca link or hop in the vehicle up to the site and ride only the descent.
