Three descents from the Chinchero plateau to the floor of the Sacred Valley, including a brand-new line.
This is the gateway to our double black days. From the plateau of Chinchero, the weavers' town at 3,762 m, an open, fast and exposed descent drops towards the valley, with constant views of the Urubamba range and the glaciers closing the horizon. Nine kilometres later you reach the village of Huayllabamba, at 2,800 m, where the vehicle is waiting to shuttle you to the main event.
From the Racchy viewpoint (3,800 m) run two sibling tracks: Racchy DH, the classic, long and packed with rock gardens, and Racchy Qolqa, a new variant that starts at the same point, covers the same distance and branches onto a more technical, more demanding line. Riding both back to back, comparing lines and feel, is what makes this a favourite for riders who return to Cusco.
We warm up on the Chinchero descent: open, fast and exposed, with the glaciers of the Urubamba range in front of you all the way down to Huayllabamba.
Then the vehicle shuttles you up to the Racchy viewpoint for the main event: Racchy DH, the long classic packed with rock gardens, and Racchy Qolqa, which starts at the same point, covers the same distance and branches onto a more technical, more demanding line. Riding them back to back lets you compare lines and feel.
Bike, protective gear, guide and shuttle included. Lunch and hotel pick-up are not included.
9:00 am to 5:00 pm. We meet in Urubamba and our vehicle shuttles you to Chinchero and to the Racchy viewpoint, then back to Urubamba. Private groups of 2 to 6 riders, with a special rate for solo riders.
Double black trails: solid downhill experience is required. Expect fast, exposed sections, long rock gardens and, on Racchy Qolqa, a more technical and demanding line.
The descents start around 3,800 m. Spend a few nights in Cusco or the Sacred Valley before the tour.
Racchy Qolqa is a new variant of Racchy DH: same start, same distance, more technical line. Riding both back to back is the highlight of the day.
Lunch is not included. Bring the food you like to ride with.
As this is a day tour, distances and altitudes are approximate.
